R.I.P. Mats Löfgren

Mats Löfgren, lead singer of KAIPA from 1977 until 1980 has died after a long severe illness mid of October. He was at home with his family when he died. Mats has lived since many years on the island of Bali (Indonesia), were he managed a guesthouse.
Mats Löfgren (1951-2016) was a lead singer with KAIPA, the leading Progband from Sweden in the 70s. He can be heard on two KAIPA albums out of that time, that are "Solo" (1978) and "Händer" (1980). His distinctive and harmonious voice is characterizing these albums. Particularly "Solo" is often named as the best KAIPA album from their early period.
Beside and after KAIPA Mats was also a member of the short lived Rock & Pop Trio "Ingemar Bergman Troop", together with his fellow Ingemar Bergman, also from KAIPA. This group existed from 1979 until 1981 and released one album and three singles. Further on Mats Löfgren was the lead singer with the rock band "Fantasia", together with Michael Stolt and Roine Stolt (KAIPA, Flowerkings, Transatlantic ...). Fantasia released one album in 1982.
KAIPA as well as the Ingemar Bergman Troop were playing large concert tours in Sweden at that time. The attached photo shows Mats Löfgren at a KAIPA concert in 1977 or 1978.
